The National Black Child Development Institute (NBCDI) has been at the forefront of engaging leaders, policymakers, professionals, parents, and caregivers around critical and timely issues that directly impact Black children and families for nearly half a century. With the support of their National Affiliate Network in communities across the country, they are committed to improving and advancing the quality of life for Black children and families through education and advocacy.

Alliance-Funded Support for State Advocacy

  • State Affiliate Planning – NBCDI will continue the planning process to expand the reach and scope of the National Affiliate Network by developing a State Affiliate model. NBCDI will focus on addressing the critical need for more state-level advocates with a commitment to Black children and families and deep grassroots connections in Black communities. NBCDI will provide support to Affiliates who deeplyengage in the planning process and collaborate with Alliance partners.
  • Racial Equity Hub – NBCDI participates as an anchor organization in the Alliance’s Racial Equity Hub, lending their expertise to support the planning process for professional development of state advocates. NBCDI will contribute by sharing decades of expertise on improving early childhood systems to advance racial equity for Black children and families. Additionally, NBCDI will advise on how leaders in the Alliance network can build the racial equity competencies needed to influence policymakers and systems.
