Building and Sustaining Effective Coalitions
Working in a coalition to effect policy change is a familiar strategy in advocacy work. Yet too many coalitions can feel dysfunctional and not truly collaborative–or they require an inordinate amount of time for the impact they yield. Thankfully, intentional systems, foundational principles, and conflict management strategies can help to overcome these common challenges. Join coalition leaders from Washington, D.C., Minnesota, and New Hampshire to learn from their experiences building and sustaining impactful and functional coalitions.
After learning about some of the structures and strategies these coalition leaders implemented to support their collective work, participants will have time to identify and start creating an action plan to strengthen and cultivate collective power in their existing and future coalitions.
