Charting the Path to Winning in a Tumultuous Political Landscape: A Community Meeting with Alliance Allies
We are increasingly working in communities where people feel divided, frustrated, angry, and disaffected. At the same time, we are often trying to influence elected officials who propose and enact policies that are harmful or do not speak to the interests of their constituents. How can we find a path forward where the best interests of children and families win in this environment?
In this “community meeting,” we learned from and with the Alliance Network. Our peers in Alaska, Virginia, and Wisconsin started the conversation sharing how they are charting their paths—from putting a stake in a bold vision for children and families, to building a bigger tent by engaging with people who have different values and beliefs, to finding ways to resist political extremism. We invited other ideas from the Alliance community that we hope inspired new mindsets, strategies, and actions to consider as we navigate our way to a brighter future for families and communities.
