All Politics is Local: Partnering for Change with Rural and Small Town America

Communities know what communities need. The people closest to the problems create the best solutions. All politics is local. But is our advocacy? 

Building stronger bonds between policymakers and their constituents builds advocacy strength to address community needs AND accountability to change state policy. In this session, we learned from fellow advocates about how they are intentionally cultivating local advocacy—in rural areas and small towns across the state—to solve problems on the ground while also raising voices to impact state policy. Attendees learned about different approaches and had some time to think and collaborate on what methods of building local advocacy might work in their own states.
