Family Values at Work

Family Values @ Work (FV@W) is a network of 27 state coalitions that use community organizing, media, public education, leadership development, and civic engagement strategies to advance policies that value families at work. The organization provides funding, technical assistance, and peer learning to state coalitions to win Earned Sick and Safe Days (ESSD) and paid Family and Medical Leave Insurance (FMLI) in the states, creating the models, movement, and momentum to win federal policy change.

Alliance-Funded Support for State Advocacy

FV@W is continuing to build diverse coalitions within the paid-leave and child-care movements,—centering the leadership and voice of Black, Indigenous, People of Color (BIPOC) women in leading these efforts —and working to mobilize and align with early childhood advocates behind these efforts. FV@W is completing an assessment of their state partners who are leading on child care and paid leave and is mapping any overlap with the Alliance and other national networks to identify opportunity for stronger alignment between state-based partners for movement building. FV@W staff will work with their state partners to build and bridge relationships with the Alliance’s state partners and other national networks’ state-based partners, assess current political landscapes, and the ability to pass strong childcare and paid leave policy solutions that center the most impacted communities.

FV@W is also calling attention to the compounded impact COVID-19 has on BIPOC communities that also lack adequate paid leave protections and child care solutions by elevating the voices and leadership of workers and caregivers in advocacy work in their state.
