The Alliance for Early Success is a 50-state resource for early-childhood advocates as they pursue the big, sustained impact that will ensure every child in every state, birth through age eight, has an equal chance to grow, learn, and succeed.
Alliance for Early Success convenings, connections, and community fueled the Bright Start Tennessee Dashboard–Tennessee advocates’ new, highly tailored early childhood data portal. Now that each of the Bright Start regions has access to the regularly updated dashboard, they’re better equipped to measure progress and champion state policies with regional and local data.
In partnership with the Alliance for Early Success, ZERO TO THREE has launched a collaboration community to support Alliance state grantees in elevating family voice and cultivating their leadership in advocacy and policy. A key focus of the community is exploring strategies to shift organizational culture and systems in ways that support meaningful partnership with families from the beginning of policy agenda development through the policy implementation process.
The Alliance for Early Success and ZERO TO THREE recently launched a new collaborative community on Part C Early Intervention, where advocates can connect and reflect with other advocates working in this critical state policy area.
Advocates from more than a dozen states recently logged into a quick-response huddle to talk through issues relating to public statements—namely when, why, how, and to whom we should make them. The conversation was facilitated by Josh Gryniewicz of Odd Duck Communications, the Alliance’s new responsive support provider for communications and narrative framing.
After working with Alliance Responsive Support providers at the Georgetown Center for Children and Families, advocates uncovered a new funding stream for home visiting, which ultimately nearly doubled the state’s available home visiting funds.
We talk about centering lived experience and sharing power, but what does that look like in action? The Alliance for Early Success hosted a convening on November 13-14 in Seattle, Washington that showcased how advocates from Child Care Aware of Washington (CCA) “flipped the script” by facilitating a process that puts early childhood educators in the decision-making role.
Alliance state allies from conservative-led states gathered in Salt Lake City last month to think together about how the recent national and state elections will impact their advocacy in the short term and to do some longer-term future forecasting and narrative change work.
The New England Regional Early Childhood Advocate Convening brought together advocates and funders to facilitate cross-state learning, align advocacy and policy goals, and build relationships. Topics included coalition building, family economic security policy, healthy families policy, and case studies of early childhood advocacy by New England states.
State allies in the Alliance for Early Success network recently gathered to discuss the challenges the family child care workforce is facing. The group focused on two growing challenges: the rising cost of liability insurance and the availability of coverage. Allies were joined by NAEYC who shared findings based on recent surveys conducted with child care providers.
When advocates at Rodel in Delaware began planning a targeted messaging strategy for increasing child care subsidies, the Alliance connected them with Child Care Aware of America, who helped them build a dashboard that quantifies the gap in child care supply and demand at the local level. This allowed advocates to create fact sheets about the shortage of child care in each state legislative district and, ultimately, win more than $10 million in additional subsidy and reimbursement funding.
