After leading the Alliance for Early Success through more than a decade of strategic growth, Executive Director Lisa Klein is stepping down. The organization’s board has announced that Deputy Director Helene Stebbins will step into the role on September 1, 2020.
Open Strong was developed by state early childhood advocates and the Alliance for Early Success to assist state advocates in raising key issues and questions, to provoke conversations and solutions that are particular to operating child care programs during the COVID-19 pandemic.
In an informative presentation from national and state child care and child welfare experts, Alliance allies heard about the current trends in child care and state child welfare policy, including the importance of child care for birth and foster parents, the provisions of the Child Care and Development Block Grant that can be used to provide child care services for dependent children involved in child welfare systems, and innovative child care/child welfare partnerships in Florida.

In September, the Alliance for Early Success organized a national conference on the early childhood education profession. The meeting was an opportunity for 200+ state leaders, advocates, national experts, and early childhood educators to share promising strategies and lessons learned thus far, and to engage each other on the future.
The Alliance for Early Success believes that protecting or making progress in early childhood investments depends largely on state leadership. Governors have a lot of discretion over how to allocate, maximize or misuse resources. And their policies will either support or harm young children; and either help or prevent their families from becoming independent, successful and secure.
