A new federal executive order, however, might just change that with a simple notion: requiring state governments to treat families like customers. Join us as our partners at the New Practice Lab will share their recently released research on complexity in early education programs across the 50 states and will share updates on federal efforts to simplify access to early childhood programs.

We’ll also hear from South Carolina, a state meeting this challenge head-on with their recently unveiled First Five SC portal, which aims to transform the way families access publicly funded early childhood programs and services in the state.

Georgia Allies Leverage Alabama Early Childhood Mental Health Progress for Big Wins in Their Own State

Georgia allies at GEEARS are celebrating the creation of a new task force for Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health. Allies leveraged a cross-state partnership with Alabama’s IECMH coordinator to support progress. GEEARS organized efforts for a legislative study committee that led to the creation of recommendations, which will be carried out by the task force.

Innovative Revenue Wins for Early Care and Education in Louisiana

Louisiana celebrated big revenue wins during the 2021 legislative session for early care and education, including allocating sports betting revenue and specialty NBA Pelican license plate revenues to the Louisiana Early Childhood Education Fund. The Louisiana Policy Institute for Children and other partners also succeeded in other efforts to promote broad investment for Louisiana children and families.
