RFP: Child Care NEXT Initiative Facilitator

 CLOSED: 3/8/2023

The Alliance for Early Success is seeking a Facilitator for the coordination of our Child Care NEXT Initiative.

The Alliance for Early Success seeks a facilitator(s) for an in-person spring convening for 50 people in New Orleans in May and four virtual 60-90 minute advisory committee meetings over the next year for the Child Care NEXT initiative. CC NEXT supports states that are mounting long-term campaigns to achieve transformative change in their child care policies and funding.

The Alliance is a 50-state network, committed to building a powerful community of diverse early childhood policy allies that informs, accelerates, and amplifies their effectiveness in achieving state actions necessary for each and every young child to thrive. We connect advocacy organizations working to improve early childhood policy at the state-level.

The Child Care NEXT initiative emerged from the devastation that COVID-19 wreaked on child-care systems across the country. The Alliance launched the initiative in 2021 with the belief that the child care system needs transformative change, which can only come from advocacy that centers equity and builds collective power with those most impacted in communities – children, families and educators.

Six state coalitions– from Colorado, Louisiana, New Mexico, New York, Oregon, and Virginia – were selected and have completed a planning year with Child Care NEXT support and are now launching campaign plans in pursuit of their transformational visions. The state teams are comprised of diverse organizations and members, including grasstops policy advocates, grassroots organizers, agency staff, parents, early childhood educators, and others committed to building and sharing the type of power that leads to sustained and transformative change.

One-and-a-half years into the multiyear effort, the Alliance has learned from state teams how we can better support their efforts to share power, to build skills and expertise, and to approach the initiative in ways that account for the unique challenges presented by movement building work across diverse stakeholders.

We seek a facilitator(s) who can help design and facilitate an annual convening of the state coalitions, including managing diverse perspectives and experiences, creating an inclusive space, and fulfilling the purposes of the convening (see below). We are also looking for facilitation support for four calls with our national advisory committee, to ensure that it achieves its purpose.
