Governor's Commission on Racial Equity and Justice — Formed by the governor in 2020, the commission in July of 2021 issued this report, which makes recommendations on improving racial equity in the state of Kansas by addressing social determinants of health. Advocates at Alliance ally Kansas Action for Children pushed for several key early childhood policy recommendations which were included in the final report, including policies covering taxes, early learning, and maternal and infant health. Voices for Virginia's Children — The Campaign for a Trauma-Informed Virginia: Racial Truth & Reconciliation Virginia’s Unified Policy Agenda is created by Virginia’s Trauma-Informed Community Networks and the Racial Truth & Reconciliation Virginia coalition, which includes community members, art activists, professionals from a variety of sectors, direct-service providers, and youth and caregivers to identify key legislative opportunities to leverage a multi-disciplinary lens to ensure Virginia’s systems are trauma-informed and equitable in addressing the root cause of trauma and dismantling systems of oppression. Advancement Project California — Our allies in California issued a policy brief that calls for doubling down on the strategic investments the state needs to build a foundation for healthy, sustainable, and successful educational outcomes for all students, especially for historically disadvantaged students. (June 2020)
Groundwork Ohio — Our allies in Ohio published the Ohio Early Childhood Race and Rural Equity Report to bring greater understanding among policymakers and stakeholders of how race and location matters to the policies, institutions, and systems that shape the future for children and families in Ohio. Taking action begins with honest and sincere conversations. (Alliance Funded) (November 2018)
